Unforgettable Day Trips to the Coast from London by Coach Hire

Every so often, especially if you live in London, we get the urge to take a trip to the seaside.. it's just what we do! However, have you ever thought of going on a trip to the coast with your entire extended family and/or friends group? 'No way' I hear you say, but if you think about it.. what better way to bring you all together for a lovely day out - and if you travel there by private coach you can all share the cost and arrive together refreshed and ready to go.

You could even turn it into an annual event, the kids would love it and you get to make happy memories that your group could share for years to come! Convinced yet? Okay, so let's take a look at some of the most popular British seaside resorts not too far from London.

Brighton beach and pier

Brighton

Is there anyone left who hasn't enjoyed a fun filled day trip to Brighton? The annual trip to this little town, dubbed by some as a 'mini London' is almost a pilgrimage for some people. The famous 'Lanes' are full of independent shops with 'bucket' loads of character, and there's Brighton Pier which is open all year round so there's no excuse not to go in winter either! It's a great way to spend the day forgetting all about your worries back in the 'real world', and with a large group of family and/or friends you're guaranteed to come back smiling.

Whitstable

For those who want somewhere a bit more low key and relaxed there's Whitstable in north Kent, which is full of old fashioned seaside charm. It may not have the razzmatazz of Brighton but that's precisely the attraction for a lot of people, especially those who are ready to enjoy the quieter things in life. Instead of spending the day rolling 2p pieces into a machine in the hope of getting a few back, you can wander around the amazing collection of beach huts, local shops and art galleries, or best of all take a long stroll along the pebble beach and breathe in that salty air to blow the cobwebs away.

Southend-on-Sea

Not everyone's first thought when a trip to the coast is suggested, but another great location especially if you've got a lot of kids in your party. They will love Adventure Island amusement park which has some great rides that will keep them occupied for hours. Believe it or not, Southend is also home to the longest pleasure pier in the world, at a whopping 1.3 miles, in fact it's so long it even has it's own train if you don't fancy the walk. Either way, it's a guaranteed fun day out for the whole family. Don't forget a lovely fresh fish and chip meal at some point during the day!

Margate

Another great town for a group day trip on the South East coast is Margate. Very popular with artists (must be something to do with the light) this seaside town is a favourite for those who like to visit galleries like the Turner Contemporary, or the many smaller private exhibitions dotted around. As you'd expect for a town popular with artists, there are plenty of independent shops and trendy cafes so if that's your groups collective cup of tea you'll be in the right place. And don't forget to visit Dreamland Margate, home to a huge collection of vintage rides from the old days.

Bournemouth

If you like golden sandy beaches, which to be fair can be are a bit a rarity along the south coast, then Bournemouth is the place to visit with seven miles of them. It's a bit further from London than the other coastal towns, but still only a couple of hours by coach and perfectly acceptable for a large group day trip. As with most other seaside towns, it has all the activities to keep you busy and plenty to do for the young ones, especially in the popular summer months.

So that's about it, just remember to think outside the box and get your friends, family, colleagues and whoever else is game to all chip in for a fun filled day trip to the coast, and book a private coach to take all the stress away of getting there and back. So start planning today, and turn that idea into lasting memories you can all fondly remember together!

Happy Travels!
